Scope of Role
The High Voltage Battery Systems Engineer plays a critical role in the development and integration of high voltage bat tery systems within the automotive industry.
Reporting to the Systems Engineering Manager, this role is responsible for the ownership and technical leadership of the battery system, encompassing design, development, validation, and integration activities.
By leveraging expertise in battery technologies, electrical systems, and systems engineering principles, the Engineer ensures the delivery of safe, reliable, and high-performance battery systems for electric vehicles

This position would be working within the Engineering Research and Development area of Tata Technologies and specifically on Vehicle Programmes.
The position requires a highly motivated per son and team player who understands HV Battery requirements and system requirements throughout the Electrified Powertrain and Battery management system.

Area of Responsibility
Battery System Ownership: Assume ownership and technical leadership of the high voltage b attery system throughout the product lifecycle, from concept to production.
Define system requirements, architectures, and specifications to meet performance, safety, and regulatory standards.
Design and Development: Lead the design and development of high volta ge battery systems, including cell selection, module design, pack layout, and thermal management.
Utilise engineering analysis and simulation tools to optimise system performance and reliability.
Integration and Validation: Coordinate integration and validation activities to ensure seamless integration of the battery system with vehicle subsystems and components.
Develop test plans, conduct validation tests, and analyse test data to verify system performance and compliance with requirements.
Safety and Compliance:
Ensure compliance with safety standards, regulations, and industry best practices governing high voltage battery systems.
Collaborate with functional safety engineers, regulatory experts, and certification bodies to achieve safety certification and homologation.
Systems Engineering Support:
Provide technical support and expertise to the Systems Engineering Manager and cross-functional teams on battery system-related matters. Collaborate closely with system architects, requirements engineers, and integration leads to address system-level challenges and requirements.
Failure Mode Avoidance:
Conduct risk assessments and FMEA (Failure Mode and Effects Anal ysis) to prioritise critical failure modes and implement mitigation measures.
Troubleshooting and Root Cause Analysis: Investigate and resolve technical issues related to the battery system, conducting root cause analysis and implementing corrective actions as necessary. Proactively identify potential risks and develop mitigation strategies to ensure system reliability and performance.
Con tinuous Improvement: Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance the design, development, and integration processes for high voltage battery systems.
Identify opportunities for innovation, cost reduction, and performance enhancement to maintain competitiveness in the market.
Cross-functional Collaboration: Collaborate closely with engineering, design, testing, manufacturing, and qual ity teams to ensure alignment of battery system activities with overall project objectives. Foster a culture of collaboration, communication, and knowledge sharing across teams.
Knowledge / Experience
Strong organisational skills with a good track record of delivering projects on time.

Working experience with Standards like ECE R100, ISO 26262, ISO 16949 and GBT etc.
Documentation of DFMEA, DVP, Timing Plans, Minutes and Actions of Meetings.
Automotive development processes
Previous experience of OEM or tier one automotive systems
Experience using DOORS Systems or any other platform to manage system/components requirements.
Delivery with FDD methodology - functional flow, physical flow, logic flow
Strong track record o f delivering significant high value business and delivering to very tight timescales.
Driven to delivering high quality projects, on time and budget, beyond customer expectations.
Essential
Degree in Electronics/Electrical, Mechatronics, Software or Automotive Engineering.
Able to anticipate, translate and develop customer requirements into tangible feature developments.
Expertise in a utomotive toolchains including Diagnostic Tools, Vector Tools, CANalyzer and CANoe etc.
Expertise in communication protocols such as CAN/LIN/Flexray etc.
Expertise in product design, develop & DV at cell, module and battery pack systems
Working experience w ith Standards like ECE R100, ISO 26262, ISO 16949 and GBT etc.
Experience with EE Architecture and the thermal management (compone nt/system).
Understanding of Vehicle system elements (VCU, OBD and PDU etc.
Able to actively participate in system FMEAs and re lated validation activities.
Ability to build relationships and influence customers
3-5 years of experience in HV Battery, BMS and system development and the related New Product Introduction processesCompetences
